How to Apply to Clemson as an International Student
1. Complete the application
Apply using the Clemson Application, the Coalition Application, Powered by Scoir, or the Common Application. In the admissions review process, no application is given preference.
2. Pay the Application Fee
You are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $70. All major credit cards are accepted at Clemson.
3. Request for test score
If you are a first-year student wishing to submit test results, please ask ACT or The College Board to send your results. Transfer students are exempt from this phase.
Clemson has decided to make tests optional. To be considered for admission to Clemson, applicants do not need to submit their results from standardized tests.
If you decide to use your test results, the relevant testing organization must electronically submit your results. The SAT code for Clemson is 5111, whereas the ACT code is 3842.
Clemson achieves extraordinary scores on the ACT and SAT. This means that for the SAT, the greatest evidence-based reading, writing, and math scores will be used to determine the final total score.
This means that, for the ACT, we take into account a student’s greatest section (or subtest) results, independent of the test date. The average of the top ACT reading, math, science, and English subject scores is used to determine the super composite ACT score.
4. Submit your official TOEFL, IELTS, or DuoLingo scores

When your test results, other credentials, and Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) are added to your application file, please allow seven to ten business days for their reception.
1. Immigration Requirements
An I-20 or DS-2019 (Certificate of Eligibility) will be issued by International Services once your academic, language, and financial proficiency has been verified. Taking this document to a U.S. Consulate is necessary to apply for a nonimmigrant student visa.
The J-1 exchange visitor visa certificate, Form DS-2019, will be given to students who are supported by an international organization or their home government.
An I-20 (certificate of F-1 student visa) will be provided if there is no organizational sponsor involved. Throughout their studies, students are in charge of keeping their legal status with the US Department of Homeland Security.
Transferring international students from another school in the United States will be provided visa paperwork at the time of registration at Clemson University.
If a transfer student intends to leave the United States for a brief visit to his or her home country before attending Clemson, the student must notify International Services before leaving the country. Inquiries about immigration should be directed to International Services.
2. Health Insurance
International students, their spouses, and dependents living in the United States are required by the University to have a minimum of $50,000 in health insurance coverage, which includes medical evacuation and repatriation.
Health insurance is provided by the University. Redfern Health Center coordinates an insurance waiver for existing equivalent insurance.
3. Student Services
International Services assists international students on campus. It is responsible for processing all international acceptances and acts as a liaison between the Department of Homeland Security and all international students on campus.
4. Transfer of Funds
The Office of International Services will work with students upon admission to Clemson to get certification that sufficient funds are available for the student’s full educational term at Clemson.
As a result, all expenditures are paid at the start of each semester or term (in August, January, and May of each year).

5. Employment
