Great River Medical Center Scholarship

Applications for the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and Great River Health Foundation scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year are now available. Applications for all scholarships are due on April 1.

Auxiliary High School Scholarship

Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary offers the Auxiliary High School Scholarship to students interested in a healthcare career. It is open to high school seniors from the hospital’s service area. Scholarships are available on both Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center campuses, but applicants can only receive one.

Auxiliary Continuing Education Scholarship 

The Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary offers the Auxiliary Continuing Education Scholarship to individuals who have completed their initial year of college with a healthcare major. It is offered to students living in the hospital’s service region.

Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship

The Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship, sponsored by the Great River Health Foundation, is for students seeking healthcare education but not medical school. This award is offered to seniors and recent graduates of Fort Madison High School, Central Lee High School, Holy Trinity High School, and Keokuk High School. Non-traditional students will also be considered.

Tracey Howe Scholarship

The Great River Health Foundation offers the Tracey Howe Scholarship to students pursuing healthcare vocations at Southeastern Community College and Iowa Wesleyan University. Multiple scholarships will be granted to Des Moines and Lee County high school graduates, both public and private. Nontraditional students from Des Moines and Lee Counties are also eligible. The application includes a list of eligible job paths.

The Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship, sponsored by the Great River Health Foundation, is for students seeking healthcare education but not medical school. This award is offered to seniors and recent graduates of Fort Madison High School, Central Lee High School, Holy Trinity High School, and Keokuk High School. Non-traditional students will also be considered. Applications are due April 1.

Tracey Howe Scholarship

The Great River Health Foundation offers the Tracey Howe Scholarship to students pursuing specific healthcare occupations at Southeastern Community College. Multiple scholarships are granted to public and private high school graduates from Des Moines and Lee County schools. Nontraditional students from Des Moines and Lee Counties are also eligible. The application lists eligible career pathways, and April 1 is the priority deadline for consideration.

Great River Health entities award $23,500 in scholarships

The Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and the Great River Health Foundation recently presented scholarships totaling $23,500 to students pursuing healthcare vocations.

Kathleen Canella Family Scholarship – Great River Health Foundation

This award was created in memory of Kathleen Canella, a long-time volunteer and member of the Fort Madison Community Hospital Auxiliary.

$1,000 to $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors:

• Kayla Box, Holy Trinity High School.

• Karissa Moeller, Central Lee High School.

• Emily Steffensmeier, Fort Madison High School.

• Adyson Brumble, Central Lee High School.

• Kay Quittem, Fort Madison High School

Tracey Howe Scholarship – Great River Health Foundation

This scholarship was created in memory of Tracey Howe, a registered nurse at Fort Madison Community Hospital.

$1,500 scholarships:

• Natalie Ames, nursing, Culver-Stockton (previously Iowa Wesleyan University).

• Grace Mercer, nursing, Mount Mercy (previously Iowa Wesleyan University).

Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Auxiliary scholarships

$1,000 scholarships for high school seniors:

• Kenzie Davis, Wapello High School.

• Winni Liu, West Burlington High School.

• Melanie Reid, Burlington High School.

• Allison Humphreys, Winfield – Mount Union.

• Bailey Ryan, West Central High School.

• Karissa Moeller, Central Lee High School.

• Madelynn Wyatt, Keokuk High School.

• Kay Quittem, Fort Madison High School.

• Allison Worley, Illini West High School.

• Alexa Gray, Hamilton High School.

$1,000 scholarships for continuing college students:

• Jayah Kent, kinesiology, Grand View University.

• Morgan Grelk, biology, Wartburg College.

• Madison Bunton, kinesiology, Drake University.

• Lydia Fisher, biology and chemistry, University of Alabama.
