We presently handle 29+ active US undergraduate international scholarship programs worth more than $2.3 million. Since 2002, we have helped grant more than $2 million in scholarships.

All US undergraduate international scholarships must be provided for philanthropic reasons, must adhere to Internal Revenue Service Codes and Statutes, and are subject to the terms and circumstances outlined in the Foundation’s Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, and Policies.

We cannot accept new scholarship funds at this time. When we can provide these monies again, we will update this page.

US Undergraduate International Scholarship

1. The Florence Baldwin Scholarship

The Florence Baldwin Scholarship recognizes the life and service of long-time Berkeley resident Florence Baldwin by funding higher education for young women from the East Bay who might otherwise be unable to attend college due to financial constraints. This award is given in conjunction with the Oakland Promise.

2. Oakland High School Math Club Scholarship

The Oakland High School Mathematics Club Scholarship is given to an active member of the Oakland High School Mathematics Club who is a graduating senior accepted to a college or institution. The selection process is based on success in several math club events.

3. The Lam Research Core Values Scholarship

Lam Research Corporation invites high school graduates from Fremont Unified (CA), Livermore Valley Joint Unified (CA), Tigard-Tualatin (OR), and Hillsboro (OR) School Districts to apply for Lam Research Core Values Scholarships worth $10,000 over four years.

One award is granted to one graduating senior from each of the 11 eligible high schools who best exhibits Lam’s Core Values, intends to attend a two- or four-year college or technical school, and has a cumulative, non-weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Value: $10,000

4. The Shelley Bergum Higher Education Scholarship

The Shelley Bergum Higher Education Scholarship, funded by the California Communications Access Foundation, recognizes Shelley Bergum’s significant contributions to the support of people with disabilities by assisting students with disabilities pursuing an Associate or Undergraduate Degree at a California higher education institution. Each year, up to six $2,500 awards are given out.

5. Jerry and Esther Moran Scholarship

The Jerry and Esther Moran Scholarship was founded to empower students to pursue their ambitions of attending college.

We aim to enable young people with low financial means and from all backgrounds to seize more chances, attain their full potential, shape their professions and futures, and contribute to all parts of their lives and communities.

Scholarships will be offered to graduating high school students who demonstrate high financial need, a dedication to serving others, academic excellence, character strength, and leadership skills. Students of color, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

This scholarship will give one new scholarship per year. Students entering two-year institutions will receive $5,000 apiece, while those entering four-year colleges will receive $10,000 each. Tuition, fees, books, and supplies can all be paid for using educational awards.

Value: $5000-$10,000.

Eligibility criteria:

• To apply, applicants must be graduating seniors from Oakland Tech or McClymonds High Schools in Oakland, California.
• Have a high financial need (evidence of free or reduced lunch status)
• Enroll in a 2- or 4-year institution in the Fall term. – Maintain a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.5.

Selection criteria:

• A committee will select winners based on the following criteria:
• Financial need (based on Expected Family Contribution from the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application).
• Preference may be given to first-generation college students, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and others from underrepresented groups.
• Academic accomplishment, character strength, community involvement, and commitment to educational success as evidenced via written and video responses to supplied questions.
• Letter of recommendation: one from a non-family member, such as a teacher, coach, supervisor, religious leader, etc.

6. The ACUMEN Scholarship

ACUMEN stands for “Aspire to College or University: Meet Your Education Nexus.” The ACUMEN Scholarship aims to provide scholarships to students from Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) in Berkeley, Oakland Tech High School, and MyClymonds High School who face significant financial obstacles but are determined to attend college.

This scholarship will grant up to three new scholarships every year. Awards for students attending two-year universities will be $5,000, while awards for those attending four-year colleges will be $8,000.

Tuition, fees, books, and supplies can all be paid for using educational awards. Current ACUMEN scholars are encouraged to renew their honors every year in college by demonstrating “good standing.”

Value: $5000-8000.

Eligibility requirements for new and first-time applicants:

• Current Youth Spirit Artworks (YSA) members in Berkeley graduating from high school; OR
• Active participants and alumni of YSA who have graduated from high school and (a) have not started college or (b) have only attended community college (4-year college students are not eligible for first-time applications); OR
• Current graduating seniors at Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, OR.
• Current graduating seniors from McClymonds High School in Oakland
• Must be attending a 2-year or 4-year college or university in the upcoming autumn semester.
• The cumulative GPA must be 2.5 or better.
• You must be eligible for the federal free and reduced school lunch program.

A committee will select winners based on the key areas listed below.

• Financial necessity.
• A sense of purpose and drive for educational activities
• Desire to contribute to the community, culture, and societal welfare.
• Displayed attributes like curiosity, perseverance, initiative, activism, and empathy.

7. The Alice B. Hansen Scholarship

The Alice B. Hansen Scholarship is given to graduating seniors from Alameda High School in Alameda, California, who are pursuing higher education in a two or four-year postsecondary educational institution and have proven financial need. Each spring, ten $1,000 scholarships are offered.

8. The Leggo Scholarship

The Leggo Scholarship is intended to support the post-secondary education of a current member of the Society of Model & Experimental Engineers, Dr. W. Barclay Stephens Chapter of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, East Bay Model Engineers, and/or Richmond Ramblers Motorcycle Club who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and community engagement. A maximum of five $5,000 scholarships will be given each year.

In March, applications will be accepted through one of the recognized organizations indicated above. Please contact one of the organizations to apply.

9. The Margaret McElhinnie Rotanzi Scholarship

The Margaret McElhinnie Rotanzi Scholarship is given to a graduating senior from Alameda High School in Alameda, California, who is pursuing higher study at a two or four-year post-secondary educational institution, lives in Alameda, and has a minimum GPA of 2.8. Each year, one $4,000 scholarship is offered.

10. The Booker T. Washington Scholarship

The Booker T. Washington Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Elgin High School in Elgin, Texas who is a descendant of a Booker T. Washington School student.

Awards are based on financial need and admittance into a postsecondary institution. One $500 scholarship is awarded each year.

11. The Thomas J. Sweeney Scholarship

The East Bay Community Foundation established the Thomas J. Sweeney Scholarship Fund to honor the memories and services of Tom Sweeney, a legendary labor leader of IBEW Local 595.

Up to thirteen $2,000 prizes will be distributed to graduating high school students who have been accepted to a college or institution.

Up to thirteen extra $1,000 prizes will be distributed to students currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution, including a California state-approved apprenticeship program.

To apply, students must be active members or dependant of a member of IBEW Local 595; be accepted and/or enrolled in a post-secondary educational institution or a state-approved apprenticeship program; and have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 or better.

Value: $1000-$2000.

Awards: Up to 26.

12. Fly Me to The Foon Scholarship

The Fly Me To The Foon Scholarship celebrates the legacy of Neel Thomas Foon, a musician, mentor, and friend. This scholarship helps music students at Oakland School for the Arts purchase musical instruments and/or pay for private music instruction to improve their talents. Every year, four $2,000 scholarships will be offered to OSA students (two in middle school and two in high school).

13. The Clark Global Scholarship Program

The Clark Global Award Program 2022 is a fully financed undergraduate award for international students. This scholarship program provides $15,000 to $25,000 per year for four years, subject to meeting academic conditions for renewal.

14. HAAA Scholarship

The HAAA Scholarship seeks applications from Arab students interested in pursuing undergraduate studies at Harvard University in the United States. In 2010, the Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA) established the HAAA Scholarship Fund, the first of its type at Harvard, to advance its goal of increasing the number of Arab students at Harvard.

Who is eligible?: Any overseas student with a valid visa who is presently enrolled or approved to study full-time at an MPOWER-supported school. Each month, there is a particular essay to include in the application.
