UK Government Commonwealth Scholarship 2023
The 2023 UK Government Commonwealth Scholarship is now open. The Commonwealth Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship to study in UK. You can apply for a full-time master’s or doctoral program. Each year they select over 200 participants from different countries to study in the UK. You can apply for free as they don’t charge any application fees. It is one of the prestigious UK government scholarships.
All expenses will be covered by this scholarship program. UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to pursue a UK Masters or Doctorate in any field. All fields are available with the Commonwealth scholarship. So far, 27,800 people have participated in Commonwealth Scholarships. There are many scholarships open in UK.
The duration of the Commonwealth Masters Scholarship is 1 year and that of the Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarship is 3 years. You can also study in UK without IELTS. Commonwealth Scholarship Financial Coverage
- Approved return airfares from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your scholarship.
- Full tuition approved.
- Allowance (living allowance) at the rate of £ 1,084 per month, or £ 1,330 per month for students at universities in the London Metropolitan Area.
- Heavy clothing allowance, if applicable
- Thesis grant to cover the costs of preparing a thesis or a dissertation, if applicable
- Study travel grant to cover the costs of study travel to the Kingdom – United or abroad.
Fields of Study Available
The Commonwealth Scholarship is for full-time Masters and Doctorates from a UK university in these fields. You can apply to any UK university that suits you.
Arts, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Clinics, Medicine, Engineering and Sciences, Education, etc. These scholarships are offered under the following six themes:

- Strengthening health systems and capacities
- Promoting global prosperity
- Strengthening global peace, security and governance
- Building resilience and crisis response
- Access, inclusion and opportunities
Eligibility and Selection Criteria for UK Government Commonwealth Scholarship
- Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status of an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British protected person.
- Be a permanent resident of an eligible Commonwealth country.
- Those who have completed the 4 year diploma or those who have completed the 2 year diploma and 2 year masters can apply for the Commonwealth scholarship in UK.
- NOT be enrolled for a doctorate, or MPhil leading to a doctorate, at a UK university before September / October 2023
- By October 2023 hold a first degree of at least an upper second class (2: 1) with honors, or a master’s degree and a related postgraduate degree (usually a master’s degree).
- Be available to start your university studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2023

There are 54 countries in the Commonwealth, Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Pacific. Commonwealth countries are different: they are among the biggest, smallest, richest and poorest countries in the world.
